Black Walnuts

These two lay nestled together on a gravel ridge in the Raritan River - a little found 'still life'.

Black Walnut trees grow along the path. The nuts are harvested by  aficionados who pick them from where they've fallen. It's a lot of work to get a little meat, but the flavor is distinctive.
