Mud

When a riverbed dries (here, the Rio Grande), great patches of mud are shaped into mosaic patterns. 

As the large 'flakes' dry further, mimi-flakes form within the larger ones.

When the mud dries completely, the patterns disappear. This is an 18 inch square of the riverbed.
