Mid-May
2003
This
was a week of abundant sightings for me. The park was alive.
Birds, snakes, fish, butterflies and turtles, bees, boxelder
bugs, clouds of tiny flies, cyclists and strollers all humming
together in spirit.
And
all this in a very small section (1/4 mile length) of the park -
directly west of the Demott Lane entrance.
I
get a sense of harmony here - there's little obvious effort to
control the area.
It's
simply a thin strip of land comprised of the path and the
adjacent narrow fields and woodland between the canal and the
river - in central New Jersey.
