Late February 2005
|
February was a fine month all in all - plenty of this and plenty
of that - a time
to reflect on what a limited range of possible temperatures and
weather systems we actually live with (compared to the cosmic
extremes of -459 to +27,000,000 F).

On the right, some

At right, an ice
'bell' suspended on a twig poking out of the river - the river level has
dropped below where it formed.
At left, snow
melting on the access bridge. |

Historical
Reminder: The
D&R Canal (below) was primarily dug by hand to a width of 75 feet and
a depth of 7 feet (44 miles of it). Completed in 1839, it provided for
safe inland transport of goods between Philadelphia and New York |
